Biography Albert Becus
Becus was born in Paris in 1900 in a very modest family. His father, a former soldier, was old enough to have participated in the Crimean War (1854-1855), so he was at least 64 years old at the birth of Albert. His mother, a native of Langon, was a cook in Paris.
Albert had an early passion for drawing and painting, and that continued throughout his life. He painted from 1917 until 1976 when he had to stop because of eye problems. In Paris, he worked in Montmartre and in the old quarters, now extinct.
He was also interested in the picturesque old streets and the old houses in Honfleur, Spain, Italy, and the South of France.
