Biography Charles Taylor II
As it is often found, inspiration arises within the family bonds for many 19th century marine artists. Charles Taylor is not an exception to this, with the fact that his father, Charles Sr.(fl.1836-1871) started exhibiting works in London in the 1830s. But the father, a painter of primarily historic events, didn't start painting marine scenes until the mid-1840s, after the successful strides of his son into the genre. Both artists enjoyed commercial associations with the Suffolk Street Galleries.
