Biography Jeanette Slocomb Edwards
Born in Wilmington, Delaware, Jeanette Slocomb Edwards studied at the Clawson S. Hammitt School of Art* in her native city, as well as the Friends School and Pennsylvania School of Industrial Art in 1914 and studies in Paris, Venice, and Florence. She studied with the well-known artists Anthony Thieme of Rockport, MA, Sue May Gill of Philadelphia, John McCoy of Chadds Ford, and Edward Grant and Charles A. MacLellan of Wilmington.
She was a charter member of the Studio Group*, founded in 1935 by women artists from Wilmington. The group met originally at 1616 Rodney Street in the Bancroft Studios and later at 1305 N. Franklin St. at Howard Pyle's former studio. Edwards was also a member of the Wilmington Society of t
