Larry Hilburn (1924-)
Larry Hilburn was born in 1924 in Jefferson City, Missouri. He began exhibiting in Taos in 1952 at the original Blue Door Gallery. During the next twenty odd years or so, his art became established internationally, with collectors living in every state and 27 foreign countries.
His works in oil, watercolor, drawing, and graphic media vary in style and mood-ranging from realism to semi-abstraction. Imagination and creativity are apparent in every work.
Hilburn moved to Taos in 1964 and established his own Gallery on Kit Carson Rd., Wengert Patio. The Hilburn Gallery was the oldest continuous gallery in Taos. In 1989 he moved to Oklahoma, where he reside
