Biography Dorothy LaSelle
Dorothy LaSelle was born in Nebraska in 1901. After earning a BA
in English from Nebraska Wesleyan University, she received her MA from
the University of Chicago in 1926. She had her first solo exhibit
at the Renaissance Society Gallery at the University of Chicago in
1926, and then spent a half year traveling Europe. In 1928 she
began what was to be a long career teaching at a small women's college
LaSelle spent her sabbatical year in 1931-32 studying
at the California School of Fine Arts with Ralph Stackpole and Maurice
Stern. In the summers of 1942 and 43 she studied with Moholy-Nagy
at the Institute of Design in Chicago.
