Biography Miles Richmond
Miles Richmond was born at Isleworth, Middlesex, in 1922 and studied at Kingston upon Thames School of Art between 1940-43. From 1946 he attended the Borough Polytechnic School of Art and fell under the influence of David Bomberg's teaching.
Like many of his peers, including Auerbach, Kossoff, Creffield and Holden, his work owes a considerable debt to his master.
During the late 1940s he took part in many Borough Group exhibitions, often exhibiting under the name Peter Richmond. Like Holt, he also exhibited at the Archer and Arcade Galleries during this period.
In the early 1950s he lived in France, then Spain, before rejoining Bomberg in 1954 as an assistant at his ill-feted school in Ronda, Andalusia. Richmond was
