Biography William Aden
Traveling to Utah from Tennessee in 1857, he was briefly a landscape painter. However, in August, he joined the Fancher wagon train headed for California from Utah via Mountain Meadows, site of the Mormon Massacre. He escaped the initial attack but was shot by William Stewart, a Mormon high priest shortly afterward when a party of Mormons caught up with Aden near Cedar City.
