Following is information, which accompanied an exhibition of work by the artist June 4 to July 5, 2011 at the Wabaunsee County Historical Museum in Kansas.


"We cross the prairie as of old The pilgrims crossed the sea, To make the West, as they the East, The homestead of the free!" From the poem, The Kansas Emigrants, by John Greenleaf Whittier, written for the August 29, 1854 departure of the second party of New England Emigrant Aid Society to Kansas
