Lu Huan was born in 1949, in the city of Chen De of the Hebei Province in China. Lu Huan commenced his formal training in painting during primary school at the Beijing Children's Palace. After graduating from the School Affiliated with the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Lu Huan enrolled in the Central Academy of Fine Arts for the next eight years. Between 1973 and 1989, Lu Huan was engaged in extensive art production in the Palace Museum in Beijing. Sixteen years later, Lu Huan decidedly moved to the United States.
Lu Huan conveys his art through the application of naturalistic stone carvings, painting, poetry, calligraphy, and seal inscriptions.
