Born in Berlin Germany on February 7, 1870. By 1889 Dietz had settled in San Francisco and was soon busy decorating restaurants and homes. Most of his works went up in flames in 1906. He then lived in Washington for a few years before moving to Los Angeles where he worked as a chef in a café. He died there on May 18, 1946. Exhibited: Mechanics' Institute (San Francisco), 1897.
