Biography Charles Alexandre Coessin de la Fosse
The French painter, Charles Alexandre Coëssin de la Fosse, was born in Normandy in 1829. He is a representative of neoclassicism and lived in Paris since the middle of the 19th century. Coëssin de la Fosse was pupil of Picot and T. Couture. After moving to Paris the artist sent his works to exhibitions in the French capital as well as in Vienna and Munich.
His oeuvre presents mainly historical subjects focusing on battle scenes, he painted landscapes and portraits as well. In the museums of the following cities are works of the artist collected: Bayeux, Lisieux, Paris and New York. The artist died in 1910. (msc)
