Susie Barstow Skelding (1857-1934)
A botanical artist, illustrator and author, she was the niece of Brooklyn landscape painter Susie M. Barstow. Skelding was the daughter of Ann Marie Barstow (1831-) and James Augustus Skelding (d.1891). She was a member of the Brooklyn Art Club.
An example of her work is her popular Flower Songs Series from the 1880s, wherein the artist sets her illustrations to poetry by well-known late 19th century American poets, set in Art Nouveau-style covers.
She died in 1934 and is buried at Greenwood Cemetery in Brooklyn, New York.
