Biography Albert Venner
Painter Albert Venner (born DeWar) was born in London, England on
September 14th, 1881. As a young man, he served as a Private and
Corporal in Queen Victoria's Lancer Regiment. Venner served in
Cairo, Malta and Gibraltar, and later recalled that Winston Churchill,
a colonel, had served with him.
He immigrated to the United States in 1904, arriving on a steamship. Venner later remembered:
I was a bad boy who hated school. When a chum of mine got a job on a
steamer, I swapped places with him and shipped out. I love the sea."
found work as a color printer and supervised the printing of the first
four color theater program in New York City in 1905. In 1914,
Venner became a US citizen.
