Herbert N. Rudeen was blessed with a special talent, and he shared his gift with everyone.
Mr. Rudeen was asked years ago to portray Pensacola as Don Tristan de Luna would have seen it when the Spanish conquistador made his historic landing in 1559. Mr. Rudeen's detailed canvas depiction, called DeLuna's Landing, was displayed at New York City's Rockefeller Center for awhile, and now hangs in the Pensacola Historical Museum.
"It was remarkable," said Norman Simons, curator of the museum. "He was quite a scholar when it came to researching costumes and environment."
