Born in Connecticut on March 24, 1909. Iris Richards was named for her great grandfather Marian who was known as the Swamp Fox and served in the Senate under George Washington. With her
parents, she made a three-month trip to southern California in 1925 in a Buick touring car and settled in Venice. While serving as secretary for the Santa Monica Art Ass'n, Iris met her husband-to-be, Addison Johnson. They were married in 1939 and lived in Santa Monica until 1951 when they settled in Riverside, CA. Mrs. Johnson died there on Oct. 18, 1985.
