Born in San Francisco, CA on July 9, 1887, the son of Valerie and Dr. J. D. Arnold. Artistically inclined at an early age, Clement was first taught to paint by his mother and at14 he studied at the Mark Hopkins Art Institute. He later abandoned an art career to become a physician. He died in Palo Alto, CA on July 9, 1949.
