Born in Newark, New Jersey on July 16, 1892. After serving in WWI, Keller moved to California in 1920. He soon settled in Los Angeles where he remained until a fatal heart attack on May 6, 1940.
Walter Keller also designed the Police Badges worn by the Los Angeles City police. He knew his design was accepted but passed away before the new badges came out.
