Born in Findlay, OH on Nov. 17, 1908. After arriving in southern California as a teenager, French graduated from Hollywood High School. While at that school he was a champion swimmer. He
worked for several years at Technicolor and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. During WWII he worked for the war effort at Lockheed Aircraft. While on vacation, French died in NYC on Sept. 22, 1977. He was the husband of artist Pauline Hirst.
