Marjorie Lee was born in Oklahoma in 1905. By 1930 Lee was a divorcée and living in Pampa, Texas.
While a resident of San Francisco in the 1930s, she painted a series of Indian myths for the Works Progress Administration. She continued there as an artist for the Works Progress Administration in 1940-41.
