Born in Newark, NJ on Aug. 11, 1865. Durand settled in Los Angeles in 1903. He was soon hired as a cashier at the California Savings Bank and, upon retirement in the 1930s, was manager. He died there on June 23, 1939. An Impressionist, he painted landscapes of the area around his home.
