Rexford Donald Holmes was born in Los Angeles, CA on March 16, 1913. Holmes studied at the Chouinard Art Institute in the late 1930s. In 1941 he settled in San Francisco and was active there until 1958 when he and wife, Rosinda, purchased a prune farm near Healdsburg, CA. There they soon established a printing business in a barn which was producing Christmas cards for national distribution. He lived in Healdsburg until his demise on Feb. 14, 2009.
