Edward Slattery (American 1915-1978)
He was a graduate of Central High School in Philadelphia and attended the Samuel Fleischer Memorial School (Graphic Sketch Club). A World War II veteran, early in his career Slattery worked as a self-employed, free-lance artist producing illustrations for numerous periodicals: Life, Time, Fortune, Playboy, Esquire, Gentleman's Quarterly and many trade magazines. He was a member of a small team of illustrators at Philadelphia-based Graphic Fashions, which specialized in illustrations of men's and women's apparel. In 1964 he began working as a senior illustrator and later as an editor for Boeing Company.
