Biography Paul Boyer
Boyer made his first "motion display" as a 12-year-old---a small wooden box he mounted on a shelf above the Republic County family's wood-burning stove in 1942. Worked in Detroit at a lumberyard then lived in Belleville and, after a 1965 accident, began making animated carvings and elaborate motion machines. The Boyer Gallery in Belleville, opened in 1997 and reopened in May 2007, features his work.
