A painter, sculptor, textile artist, and teacher, Lillian Garrett had an early career in Nebraska and then moved to states north and east where she brought much distinction to herself as a fine arts professional. Her birthplace and childhood home was Beatrice, Nebraska. From there she studied at the University in Lincoln, and then settled in Omaha in the early 1930s where she became instructor of art at Brownell Hall, a private girls school founded and administered by the Episcopalian diocese.
Lillian exhibited in regional exhibitions including the Five States Exhibit at Joslyn Museum in 1937. Statewide, this was towards the end
