Born in Bryan, TX in 1880. "Sadie" Cavitt attended Hollins College in Virginia and studied painting at Massachusetts Normal Art School and in France at the American School of Fine Arts at Fontainebleau. By the early 1920s she had wed artist Samuel E. Gideon. She and her husband spent several summers in Laguna Beach during the 1920s where she studied with Anna Hills. She exhibited landscapes and portraits in Texas shows and taught art in Austin until her death there in 1954.
