Biography Floyd Johnson
Johnson was born October 1, 1932. Grew up in Topeka and graduated from Topeka High School in 1951. Self-educated as an artist. Enlisted in the Air Force and began to receive national recognition as a painter. Stopped painting after a series of exhibitions in New York in the early 1950s but continued to work on figurative drawings. Resumed painting on a large scale in 1967-70.
Exhibitions: 4th Missouri Valley Exhibition, 1950; 5th Missouri Valley Exhibition, 1951; Downtown Gallery, NY 1950-52; Everson Museum of Art, 1972.
Awards: Scholastic Magazines Regional Art Exhibition, 1948.
