Vibella Martin was born in California on May 7, 1897. Martin studied at the CSFA. By the early 1930s she had settled in Oakland, and for 30 years she taught at UC Berkeley. In 1936 she painted in Tahiti. Upon retirement, she moved across the Golden Gate to Greenbrae where she remained until her death on April 16, 1987.
