Lester Warren Cornish was born in Massachusetts on April 26, 1859. A major in the U.S. Army, while stationed on the Monterey Peninsula, Cornish studied at the San Francisco Institute of Art in 1911-12. He died of myocarditis in Pacific Grove, CA on Oct. 10, 1917.
