Biography Lillian McConkey
Born in Grove City, Pennsylvania in 1872, Lillian McConkey was from a
family where the father was a minister. She received an A.
B. and an A.M. from Grove City College. She then became a student
in the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts* of Philadelphia where she was
a pupil of Elliott Daingerfield, Robert Henri, William Sartain, and
Mrs. Vance Phillips.
McConkey came to teach at Olivet College, Olivet, Michigan in 1920 as
the Art Director and left in 1922. Her specialty was china
painting* and she was also a pioneer in ceramics*.
