Charles C. Redmond (1850-1889)
He was born in Solon, Maine, on April 8, 1850, the son of Peter and Nancy Redmond. A Civil War Veteran, when only fifteen years of age he joined the United States Army, serving with company F, 2nd battalion, 17th infantry, at Hart's Island, New York, and at Detroit, Michigan. His leisure moments were devoted to art study and improvement. Like Maine sons Winslow Homer and Eastman Johnson before him, Redmond was an observant young man and his experience during the war attended him throughout his life.
