John Gardner Scott was born in New York in 1869. During the 1880s Scott lived in Toronto, Canada and Erie, PA. By 1905 he had moved to southern California and then ran Scott's Camp in the San Gabriel Mountains for several years. His rare oils and watercolors are of the redwoods and other California scenery. In 1921 he passed the bar in Arizona and practiced law there while operating the Golden Dragon Mining Company. He died in Prescott, AZ in October 1931.
