George A. Glaenzer (1848-1915)

Born in Paris, France, July 5,1848, was a graduate of the Universities of Paris and Stuttgart.  He fought for France in the Franco-Prussian War and was a member of the French Commission at the centennial Exposition at Philadelphia in 1876, and a founder of the National School of Decorative Art in Paris.  He came to the United States in 1880 and as a decorator did work for F.W.Vanderbilt, John D. Archbold, and others.  Glaenzer was a member of the National Academy, the Architectural League and many other artistic societies.

He died at his home in New York City, April 20, 1915.
