Biography Mary Rollo
Born in Marseille, Illinois, on March 15, 1882, Mary Gordon Rollo was the daughter of Alexander and Mary (Harper) Rollo. Graduating from the local high school in 1901, she was then a student at the Art School, Oberlin College, in 1901-1902. She then began full time study at the Art Institute of Chicago. While in attendance there she was a pupil and graduate in Ceramic Art with Evelyn Bracket Beachy; a pupil in ceramics with Virtorine Jenkins; she also studied watercolor painting with Frederick W. Freer and was a pupil in the life course with John H. Vanderpoel.
After her graduation from the Art Institute in 1905, she returned to her family home in Marseille, Illinois, where she maintained a private studio until 191
