Matille Prigge Seaman was born in White Plains, NY on Feb. 2, 1883. "Billie" Prigge was a skilled horsewoman and a prize winner at New York horse shows. She married James V. Seaman and settled in Pasadena in 1907. She studied painting with Edgar Payne, Worden Bethell, and George Demont Otis. During the 1920s she was a close friend of Agnes Pelton with whom she often made painting forays into the desert area around Cathedral City. Mrs. Seaman died in Pasadena on Aug. 28, 1966.
