Edith May McLellan Bushnell was born in California in 1859 of Scottish descent. Bushnell studied at the Mark Hopkins Art Institute and at UC. Active in San Francisco from about 1901, she taught art at Mission High School (1912-20) and Polytechnic High School after 1920. The wife of Dr. George Bushnell, she died in San Francisco on Jan. 20, 1939.
