Ralph Chesebro Springer was born in Missouri on March 27, 1883. Springer was a resident of San Francisco and employee of the Examiner in 1903. After the earthquake he moved to Los Angeles and worked for the Times and later was art director and sports cartoonist for the Herald-Examiner for many years. He died in Temple City, CA on May 15, 1970.
