James L. Russell (American, 1873-1937) started the Wonderland Way Art Club* around 1906, which became a gathering for artists working along the Wonderland Way, an area from the Evansville, IN/Louisville, KY, to Cincinnati, OH.

Working en plein aire*, these artists painted views of the Ohio River in a loose, Americanized Impressionist* style.

John Bauscher was a well known member of the Club.  His peers included Paul Plaschke (American, 1880-1954), Joseph Krementz (American, 1840-1928), Sidney Crosier (American, 1857-1930) and many other lesser well-known artists.
