Louis-Pierre Verwée (1807-1877) The Belgian painter Louis-Pierre Verwée studied painting at the Academy of Kotrijk with Jean-Baptiste de Jonghe until 1824. Afterwards, he trained with Eugène Verboeckhoven in Ghent, and then in Brussels from 1827. He was friend with Constant Troyon and Courbet. He mainly traveled through Italy, Holland and to London. He mostly painted landscapes, and was especially successful with his winter landscapes.
