William M. Moore was born in New York in 1894. By 1930 Moore had moved to San Francisco. Following studies at the Rudolph Schaeffer School of Design, he worked there briefly for the H. Liebes & Pauson Company. He taught design at the Chouinard Art School in Los Angeles from 1936-70.
