Biography   Hedwig Holtz-Sommer


Berlin 1901 to 1970 Wustrow German painter of the lost generation. 1927 - 1929 studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Weimar with Hugo Gugg, Fritz Feigler and Walther Klemm. In 1934 she married the painter Erich Theodor Holtz, since working in Wustrow in the fish country. In 1941 she received a scholarship from the German Albrecht Durer Foundation. After the war, she became a member of the Mecklenburg artist collective, and later the artist collective Ahrenshoop. A considerable part of their graphical estate is located at the Kunstmuseum Ahrenshoop.
