Biography Johann Maresch
Johann Maresch (1821-1914) joined Adolf Bähr as commercial director in 1845, who in 1841 took up the first production of household articles made from siderolith in Aussig. After Bähr's death in 1849 he married his daughter Marie Luise. In 1851 he became a shareholder of the new company ‘Bähr & Maresch’ with his mother-in-law Wilhelmine Bähr. Under his leadership, production was extended to art terracottas and majolicas. In 1860 Maresch took over the business under his own name ‘Johann Maresch, Aussig / Bohemia’, whose management he held until 1890. In 1873 his son Ferdinand joined the company and pushed the success of the company decisively forward. The products of Maresch were popular all over Europe up to overseas. (cko)
