Biography May Jones
May Asbury Jones (1901-1986) grew up in New Orleans from the age of 3 or 4 until the age of 18 when she went away for a year to Ward Belmont in Nashville, Tennessee for her senior year of high school. During that period of time (1904-1918/19) her grandfather, Darden Asbury, was General Agent (roughly equivalent to today's Vice President) of the Southern Pacific Railroad in New Orleans.
May Jones also spent time with her grandparents at their home, Rose Hill-Lockerly Hall, a magnificent Greek Revival mansion built in 1852 in Milledgeville, Georgia.
Ms. Jones entered Newcomb College of Tulane University in the fall of 1919 and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, majoring in design, in the spring of 1923. A
