Emil Frederick Bernhard was born in Mariposa, California in December 1861. By 1880 Bernhard had settled in Fresno. In 1888 he designed a lithograph for the Fresno chapter of the Native Sons of the Golden West. He worked as a real estate agent in Fresno until his demise on October 3, 1910.
