Bill Paxton (1930-2009)
William "Bill" S. Paxton was a popular Maine artist. He was born in Lewiston, ME in 1930 and was the son of William G. and Winona White. He died in Portland ME in 2009 and was survived by his daughter Amie.
As early as he could remember he was always sketching, and by the time he was in high school (Bridgton Academy), he was winning contests and awards for his talent. There is a clip from his yearbook which reads, "When artist Bill picks up his pen, we all stand at attention, for his remarks and pictures are certainly worth mention."
Bill also enjoyed ski-jumping and in his late teens he took home the medal for second highest ski-jump. Then in his early 20s, he received his certificat
