Edward Ambrose Dyson, called Ambrose and also known as "Amby" or "Amb Dyson" was an Australian illustrator and political cartoonist, born in Melbourne, the son of Ambrose Dyson and Mabel Fraser, whom Ambrose Sr. married shortly before he died in Kew Asylum.
He was a student at Yarra Park State School until 1922, when he started working as a labourer, which lasted 14 years, when he took some lessons and embarked on a full-time artistic career.
He was the first sports cartoonist for the Melbourne Herald, although Alan McCullough asserts it was his father, Ambrose Dyson (1876-1913). Both, confusingly, published under the name "Amb Dyson".
