Florence M. Rogers (c.1849 - after 1915)
A painter and illustrator, Florence M. Rogers was born in Florence, Italy. She flourished as an artist from 1877 to 1897 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and possibly in St. John, New Brunswick. Her mediums included oils and watercolors. Her subjects included landscapes, city scenes, harbor scenes and news events. Her style was Realism*. She taught art at the Halifax Ladies College and exhibited with the Ontario Society of Artists* (1877) and with the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts* (1888). She also provided the Canadian Illustrated News with a drawing of the O'Donovan Rossa Riot (Toronto) for the April 13, 1878 issue (p. 229).
