Biography Jean-Baptiste Cadet De Beaupre
Jean-Baptiste Cadet De Beaupre was appointed professor at the Academy of Valenciennes in 1785 and later he became professor of sculpture in Lille. During the French Restoration, he executed a statue of Louis XVIII which was erected in the middle of the courtyard of the Stock Exchange and removed in 1830. He created several portrait busts, including those of Louis XVII and Voltaire.
Two of his son followed in his footsteps. Auguste Phidias was professor in Lille
and Aimé Caesar Maximilian was a professor at the Academy.
