Biography Elisabeth Hibbard
Born in Portland, Oregon, Elisabeth Haseltine Hibbard became a Chicago sculptor of commemorative works, projects that she often shared with her husband, Frederick C. HIbbard. Although most of her works were for private collections and exhibitions, she did some small animal and bird sculptures that were placed in Jackson Park. From 1943 to 1950, she was an assistant professor in the Art Department of the University of Chicago.
Hibbard attended the University of Chicago, earning a Ph.D degree in 1917. She then taught before enrolling at the Art Institute of Chicago between 1921 and 1925. This study was followed by further instruction in Paris including at the Ecole D'Art Animalier.
