Biography Agatha Beatrice Kirsch
Agatha Kirsch was born in Creston, Iowa but came to Seattle around
1895. She studied with Ella Shepard Bush and at the
University of Washington, Seattle.
Kirsch worked as a commercial illustrator for Seattle department stores
for several years and became a very successful portrait painter,
specializing in the subjects of children and young adults.
Her early paintings are Impressionistic depictions of Northwest landscapes and still life.
She exhibited in the early Northwest Annuals at the Seattle Fine Arts
Society; the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in San Francisco,
1915; the Seattle Art Museum, and the Society of Independent Artists,
