Albert Heinrich Hussmann


Albert Hinrich Hussmann was a German sculptor and painter. After his schooling in Ludingworth and Cuxhaven, Hussmann studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin. Soon he specialized in the representation of horse and rider statues and from 1899 regularly had entries in the big Berlin Art Exhibition.

After graduating, Hussmann received a professorship at the Academy of Fine Arts and had a private studio in Berlin. In 1914 Kaiser Wilhelm II gave Hussmann the "Golden Medal for Art" for one of his equestrian statues.

Numerous works of art of Hussmann are life-like animal replicas, mainly sculptures in bronze and porcelain. From 1909 to 1943, he designed sculptures for the porcelain manufacturer Rosenthal in Selb, Bavaria.
